Ursuline Sister who served in Leitchfield celebrates 70 years

An Ursuline Sister of Mount Saint Joseph who served in Leitchfield is celebrating a major anniversary of religious life in 2024.

Sister Mary Matthias Ward is celebrating 70 years as an Ursuline. She was principal and taught at St. Paul School, Leitchfield, 1963-71. A native of Clementsville, Sister Mary Matthias has ministered in education, administration and pastoral ministry in Kentucky and New Mexico. From 1988-96, she served as major superior of the Ursuline Sisters of Mount Saint Joseph. Since 2022 she has assisted Ursuline Partnerships with formation and prayer.
